As President, he continues working to empower the next generation of leaders in the VSA community, with added, much-appreciated support from the rest of the Executive Board. Additionally, Alex acts as a liaison between UVSA South and UNAVSA through the UNAVSA President Council, working alongside our CoRR.

In his free time, he enjoys cooking, video games, American football, and spending time with his girlfriend, Lynn, and his two corgis: Momo and Mushu.

Johnny Nguyen

Internal Vice President

Johnny Nguyen (he/him/his) is a proud UH alumnus (Go Coogs!) who graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He has been involved with UVSA South since Leadership Summit X, where he first attended and was introduced to the community that became his home.

Johnny has taken on numerous staffing positions, ranging from UVSA South Cabinet as the Event Coordination Chair, to Leadership Summit as the Entertainment Director, and even Camp Legacy as a Programming Committee Member.

Johnny now serves as the Internal Vice President, where he strives to develop and empower new leaders within the organization. He hopes to leave his constituents feeling confident and accomplished in their leadership journeys. As the head of the Intercollegiate Council, which is composed of appointed representatives from UVSA South’s Partner Schools, Johnny aims to foster collaboration, insight, and care in all that he does.

In his free time, Johnny enjoys thrifting, gaming, and sipping a good coffee. He’s also a big fan of Cava and will definitely send you his order if you ask (trust, it’s a 10/10)!

Amy Luong

External Vice President

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Amy Luong (she/they) is a proud Coog from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts in Art. With her creative eye and passion for sharing experiences, Amy has left a lasting mark on UVSA South through roles such as Marketing and Public Relations Chair, Marketing and Media Co-Captain for Camp Legacy, and Executive Director for Leadership Summit XIII, each showcasing her talent for bringing ideas to life and connecting the community through intentional creativity and vision.

As External Vice President, Amy is guided by their three core pillars—connection, culture, and community—creating a safe space where individuals can grow into leaders and build genuine relationships within their community. Amy always brings their signature mix of creativity, warmth, and organized chaos to everything they do.

In their free time, you can find Amy going on weekly boba runs, journaling their silly lil thoughts, capturing yummy foodie adventures, and curating their ever-growing trinket collection (because you can never have too many). Amy approaches everything they do with heart and a genuine love for the community that has shaped them into who they are today!

Kaiden Law

Treasurer

Kaiden Law (he/him), hailing from Dallas, Texas, is a design student at the University of Houston.

His journey in the VSA community began in 2021 when he joined his local chapter, UHVSA, as a general member. He later became an officer, deepening his engagement with the VSA space. His involvement and passion in this community inevitably led him to UVSA South and eventually to the national level organization, UNAVSA. From staff member to director, Kaiden has held numerous roles across both organizations, gaining valuable experience that now supports his service as UVSA South’s current Treasurer.

In his role as Treasurer, Kaiden oversees the organization’s finances—ensuring that financial goals are met and funds are responsibly allocated to support UVSA South’s many initiatives. Beyond managing the treasury and financial documentation, he also offers personal support to fellow staff members. His mission is to foster an inclusive environment where emerging leaders feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow.

Outside of UVSA South, Kaiden enjoys thrifting, practicing photography, and exploring Houston’s vibrant food scene. Found around sketchbooks and way too much camera gear, Kaiden likes to find creative ways to solve challenges and finds joy in helping others.

Crystal Nguyen

Secretary

Crystal Nguyen (she/her) is from Dallas, Texas, and studies Marketing at the University of Houston. Alongside her studies, she works in Human Resources, where she enjoys connecting with people and learning their unique stories. Outside of VSA and work, Crystal enjoys expressing her creativity through photography, videography, baking, crafts, and making flower arrangements. She also loves playing Minecraft, solving Sudoku puzzles, and exploring the world through travel and sightseeing. With a love for nature and music, Crystal finds inspiration in meaningful connections and the simple things in life—always striving to bring warmth, curiosity, and kindness to everything she does.
