UVSA SOUTH EXECUTIVES

Aysia Nguyen

PRESIDENT

Aysia Thi Nguyễn, M.Ed (she/her) is a proud three-time University of Arkansas alum, holding a B.S. in Kinesiology, a B.A. in Communication, and an M.Ed in Higher Education. Aysia recently began her role as the Coordinator of Student Development and Outreach at the University of Texas at Arlington in their Intercultural Student Engagement Center. Aysia has a rich history of involvement in various organizations. She previously served as President of Arkansas VSA and currently serves as their advisor. Additionally, she is the 2023-2025 President of UVSA Southern Region and one of the Associate Directors for the 19th annual leadership conference for UNAVSA. Aysia acts as a liaison between UVSA Southern Region and UNAVSA through the UNAVSA President Council, working alongside our CoRR. In her free time, Aysia enjoys cooking, traveling, attending music festivals, and spoiling her dog, Ace. Her biggest goal is to ensure that the community has all the resources needed to make them successful in their respective VSAs and to ensure that UVSA Southern Region is a safe space for all.

Vanessa Dinh

INTERNAL VICE PRESIDENT

Vanessa “Vân” Dinh (she/her) is a proud UTSA alum with a BA in Medical Humanities. She is currently a Pharmacy Liaison at University Health in San Antonio. Vanessa has been actively involved with UTSA VSA for many years, holding roles as Co-president and President. Regionally, she has staffed many UVSA South events and a few out-of-region events with Northwest and Mid-Atlantic. She also held a UNAVSA conference staff position for U18. Outside of VSA, Vanessa held President and New Member Director positions for Sigma Phi Omega — Lambda chapter while in school.

As an Internal Vice President, Vanessa’s most notable effort has been providing a safe space for learning and development for the ICCs and hosting a leadership retreat and workshops for UVSA South officers and its partner schools. Her priority is to provide partner schools with constant support and resources to set them up for success.

In her free time, Vanessa enjoys going to live music shows, exploring new coffee shops to try their coffee and matcha, and playing Mahjong. Her goal is to create intimate relationships between the partner schools and the region, fill gaps in communication, be an advocate, and seek more helpful resources for the schools. She hopes to learn from everyone she has the privilege to work with and that everyone takes away something fruitful from their VSA journey.

Kevin Tran

Treasurer

Kevin Tran, a proud graduate of the University of Arkansas class of 2021, now resides in the vibrant DFW area.

Since 2019, Kevin has been an active member of Arkansas VSA. He has held significant roles in the UVSA South space, including Summit Staffing, and Camp Legacy Staffing. Through these positions, Kevin has honed his leadership skills and developed a strong passion for community engagement.

In his free time, Kevin enjoys hanging out with friends and traveling, always seeking new experiences and connections. His ultimate goal is to provide opportunities for emerging leaders through business or leadership roles, or even as a mentor. Kevin is dedicated to fostering growth and development in others, driven by his desire to make a positive impact.

Alex Gobert

SECRETARY

Alex Gobert (he/him/his) is a proud UT alum, holding a BS in Mechanical Engineering with a certificate in Computer Science. He is currently a Subsea Design Engineer at SLB OneSubsea. Alex has been actively involved with Texas VSA, UVSA South, and UNAVSA. He currently serves as the UVSA South Secretary and is a member of the UNAVSA IT committee. Throughout his involvement, Alex has achieved notable milestones, such as automating and streamlining several backend workflows within the Southern region and identifying new sources of nonprofit funding to cover infrastructure costs. His contributions have significantly enhanced the efficiency and sustainability of these organizations. In his free time, Alex enjoys coding, home improvement, cooking, and spending time with his two corgis. His ultimate goal is to learn as much as possible and become the best design engineer he can be while contributing positively to every space he occupies.
